Last year, North Kingstown High School had more students than any other RI High School earn the State Seal of Biliteracy! Congratulations, graduates!

About Us

The Department of World Languages at North Kingstown High School boasts four language offerings:  French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.  Advanced Placement courses are available for students studying Spanish.  Students enrolled in Portuguese will also have the opportunity to earn college credits in Portuguese III and IV through the Early Enrollment Program.  Finally, students studying German will have the opportunity to further hone their language skills by traveling abroad to our partner school in Duren.

Students are reminded that four year colleges and universities require a minimum of two consecutive years of the same world language and more competitive schools require three or four years.

Grade eight students enrolled in Spanish I who demonstrate proficiency may qualify for Spanish II at the high school through their current teacher’s recommendation based on achievement in class.  It should be noted that Spanish I taken at the middle school does not count toward the two required years mentioned above.
