North Kingstown High School was approved by the Rhode Department of Education for our newest CTE program, Machinist - Manufacturing Defense, in the 2024-2025 school year. The Machinist Program would give students the knowledge, skills and certifications needed to begin a career as a Machinist. It will be a great program for the population of students who are looking to join the workforce directly out of high school.

There is a high demand for individuals with Machinist skills specifically at General Dynamics (Electric Boat) which is located in our community and is partnering with us in this venture. Our goal is to attempt to fill this void by reaching out to students and their families about this fantastic opportunity.

Students that enjoy hands-on learning, problem solving and creative thinking will have tremendous success in this new CTE program and graduate with the skills necessary to join the machinist workforce immediately.

Students that enroll in this program will attend classes at North Kingstown High School and the Community College of Rhode Island until a renovated space is available to build out a Machinist workshop on the North Kingstown High School campus.
